Last night I re-read a mail message from April 14th of this year from an organization called the National Association for Trusted Exchange (NATE). It talked about a workshop held on April 10th in Washington DC that was a pre-conference to the 13th Annual World Health Care Congress. During the workshop, Paul Uhrig, EVP, Chief Administrative, Legal & Privacy Officer, for Surescripts was quoted, saying: “The Federal investment in HIT has certainly been a driver of demand of the technologies that many providers are using, but in the future it is likely we’ll see increased consumer engagement and demand, and that very much will drive different and increased demand for interoperability.”
We need to build and harness consumer demand so we can begin to have an impact on the health information systems and technology being developed to serve our health and wellness needs in day-to-day life.
Recognition like this is what keeps me going every day. I know Janie Appleseed is heading in the right direction. We just need to keep going!
